We at Paw Lickin' Good have recently been notified that Natura Pet Products (EVO, California Natural, Healthwise, Karma and Mother Nature) and its manufacturing facilities are being acquired by Proctor & Gamble.  According to the notification, P&G will operate Natura Pet Products as a completely separate entity for the forseeable future. All the employees will be retained.

This means that the corporation that makes Iams and Euukanuba brands dog and cat food will be responsible for making EVO, California Natural, Innova, Healthwise, Karma and  all associated treats. At this time we don't know if the formulas and ingredients will change. Only time will tell if this will happen, but we intend to keep a very close eye on the products and their production. Unfortunately, ingredient or sourcing changes do not need to be revealed to customers or retailers for up to six months! This means that changes could be made, but not made immediately public.

We understand that many Natura customers will be dismayed by this news. I know that we are. We want to take proactive approach to this situation. Rather than knee-jerk and wipe all Natura from our shelves, we want to solicit your opinions.

Please let us know either in person or by phone or email if you plan to stay with Natura products. We are happy to suggest alternatives for other high-quality and grain-free and natural pet food that we currently carry. In addition, we are vigorously researching other simple formula and grain-free foods to bring in as alternatives. If there is a food that you would like us to carry that we don't at this time, please let us know.

We believe that "knowledge is power" and want you to make your own decision based on solid information. We'd love to hear from you. Please let us know your thoughts and any additional information that you may come across. We are including below the original letter that we received from Nutura.

The Mayan people of Guatemala suffered great losses during the most recent civil war. Many women were left to raise families on their own in a country already depressed. These artisans had few skills outside of their unique style of weaving that is passed on from generation to generation. Our partnership with them creates an opportunity for them to earn an income from their weaving skills while building community development and helping to increase self confidence and hope for themselves, their children, their families and their villages.
