What a Good Dog! Training

What a Good Dog! Training offers small classes which allow for lots of individual attention and an opportunity to address specific needs and problems.

Homework is given each week to keep your training on track and you and your pup focused!

Jody offers two types of classes: Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience. Individual training sessions in your home are also available by appointment.

Puppy Kindergarten
The point of puppy class is to begin introducing your dog to "manners" that would make him/her a better member of the family. This includes introducing the basic of focus, sit, stay, come, and loose-leash walking. The class also addresses typical puppy problems such as potty training, nipping, chewing, jumping, etc. One major element of the class is socialization for the puppies. Socialization with other dogs and people is an important part of puppyhood and an important part of class.

Basic Obedience
Basic obedience class is time to (re)introduce your dog to good manners. Perhaps puppy class is a long forgotten memory and old behaviors are creeping back into your dog's repertoire. Or Perhaps this is the first opportunity for an obedience class. Either way, we'll start with the basic and review focus, sit, stay, come, and loose-leash walking. We'll also introduce heel and a number of other things/situations you may run into with your dog. The focus is learning how to control the four-legged family member rather than feeling controlled by him/her. We also discuss problem behaviors that tend to come along with growing dogs - countersurfing, jumping (cute as a puppy but when they get bigger....), barking, etc. An important element is socialization - exposure to other dogs, people, and situations that help the dog learn how to cope with the changing environment......
