TAILS Humane Society’s 8th Annual Tropical TAILS event on Saturday, March 6, at NIU’s Duke Ellington Ballroom.

The silent auction begins at 5:30 pm, with an island-theme buffet dinner at 7:00, and live auction and awards at 8:00. There will be music throughout the evening.

The live auction this year will feature at least three vacation packages to warm, sunny places – Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Florida , Hawaii, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

In addition, there will be tickets to Cubs, White Sox, and Bears games, handcrafted furniture, jewelry, and many gift certificates to businesses near and far.

This year’s chair, Regina Harris, is pretty excited about this year’s offerings.

“Tropical TAILS is our largest fundraiser of the year and also the most popular with our donors. It’s a great excuse to break out the shorts and sandals and Hawaiian shirts in the middle of winter and raise money on behalf of the animals,” said Harris. The Committee is currently collecting auction items and seeking sponsors for the event.

TAILS will honor two people who have made significant contributions to furthering the TAILS mission of helping animals. Find out who this year’s lucky recipients of the Top Dog and Cat’s Meow Awards are by joining in the fun that night.
